Last week, Yeshivat Ashreinu hosted an azkara (memorial service) for Ezra Schwartz, hy”d. The event attracted over 1,500 people, the overwhelming majority of whom where North American students studying in Israel.

The extraordinary evening aimed to provide some degree of consolation for the students at Ashreinu and their staff and to offer comfort to Ezra’s friends and family.

The OU co-sponsored the event, together with Ashreniu, the Ministry of Education, MASA, and Yeshiva University. Rabbi Akiva Naiman, Director of NCSY’s BILT program, and Ezra’s Rebbe at Ashreinu, addressed the crowd.
