This past Monday, the OU’s department of Community Projects & Partnerships launched its Empowered Parenting Initiative in Houston, Texas under the leadership of Rabbi Phil Karesh.

Along with Cincinnati, these two cities form the pilot of this initiative, which is a research-based, digestible parenting initiative that the OU hopes will move the needle in the realm of parenting – all focused on the parent-child relationship.

Orthodox Union Executive Vice President Rabbi Moshe Hauer and Dr. Eli Shapiro of the Digital Citizenship Project were the keynote speakers. The OU partnered with thirteen local community organizations throughout Houston, and nearly 150 people attended the launch, which will be followed up with meaningful programming throughout the course of the year.
