Food maven Norene Gilletz will be sharing food memories, recipes and recollections in her new column, The Flavor of Memory, a new feature in our newsletter. Norene Gilletz is the leading author of Kosher cookbooks in Canada. Her world revolves around recipes! Norene’s best-selling cookbooks include: Healthy Helpings, The Food Processor Bible, The Low-Iodine Diet Cookbook, MealLeaniYumm!, MicroWays, Second Helpings Please and the Pleasures of your Food Processor. She is currently working on her next book, Norene’s Healthy Kitchen, to be published in Spring 2007 by Whitecap Books. Dog-eared and food-stained, her cookbooks can be found in kitchens around the globe, including Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirites, Israel, South Africa, England, Mexico and Nunavut.

Norene is also a food consultant, cooking teacher, food writer, cookbook editor and food columnist for the Canadian Jewish News. She is a Certified Culinary Professional with the International Association of Culinary Professionals. She is also a member of Cuisine Canada and the Women’s Culinary Network of Toronto. Her company, Gourmania Inc., provides nutrient analysis and food labels for the food industry. She is listed in Canadian Who’s Who.

Norene grew up in Winnipeg, raised her family in Montreal and now lives in Toronto. She is the mother of three and grandmother of four (two granddaughters and 2 grandsons). Her son Doug, a chef in Montreal, has inherited her love and obsession with food. Because of her love ‘a-fare’ with food, Norene can usually be found within close range of a kitchen (not always her own)!
