This week, 50 OU member schools and synagogues were awarded Nonprofit Security Grants (NSGP) of up to $75,000 by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

These grants will be used to acquire and install necessary fencing and lighting, video surveillance and metal detectors, and reinforced doors, locks, and windows at schools and synagogues across the United States.

OU Advocacy spearheaded the creation of the NSGP in 2005 and the leadership of OU member synagogues –via OU Synagogue Services — and Jewish day schools were effective in advocating for it ever since.
Congress increased funding for the NSGP over the last year from $13 million to $20 million.

Please take a minute to thank your United States Senators and Representatives for their support of the NSGP and encourage them to continue funding this important program by participating in this Action Alert.
