Record Number of Visits to Auschwitz in 2014

A record number of people visited Auschwitz in 2014, with the museum logging 1,534,000 visits. The former Nazi concentration camp complex, which is open to the public, consists of Auschwitz and Birkenau (Auschwitz II), as well as the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum.

According to officials, the highest number of visitors—some 398,000—came from within Poland, followed by the U.K. (199,000), and the United States (92,000). This year 75,000 visitors came from Germany, 62,000 from Israel, and an impressive 41,000 from South Korea.
