Part of the OU’s Torah Personalities Series, this video features an exclusive interview with HaRav Chaim Pinchas Scheinberg zt”l. In his distinctive style, he takes us on a fascinating journey, looking at the world through his eyes.

Together with all of Klal Yisrael, the Orthodox Union mourns the passing of HaGaon HaRav Chaim Pinchas Scheinberg zt”l, one of the leading gedolim and poskim of our generation, at the age of 101.

Rabbi Scheinberg was the founder and Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva Torah Ore, and the rav of the Kiryat Mattersdorf neighborhood of Yerushalayim.

For 25 years, Rabbi Scheinberg served as mashgiach ruchani of Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim in Queens, NY, as well as the Rav of Congregation Bakash Shalom Anshei Ostrov on the Lower East Side of New York, until he formed his own yeshiva, Torah Ore, which he moved to Israel in 1965.

Rabbi Scheinberg was well-known for wearing many layers of tzitzit–as many as 150 pairs–but never explained his reason for doing this.

Tehei nafsho tzrurah betzror hachayim.
