Now’s the Time to Go From Shabbos to Yom Tov

You’ve no doubt noticed that we here at OU Torah are big fans of daily learning programs. We have Daf Yomi (with all of its wonderful supplementary programs) to help you learn through shas in seven years, Nach Yomi to teach you the books of Neviim and Kesuvim in two years, and Mishna Yomit to facilitate completing mishnayos in six years. When it comes to halacha, however, we have many different learning opportunities available.

Of course, there is our HaShoneh Halachos 2: Mishneh Torah – available online and via a daily email – that covers all of the Rambam’s Yad HaChazakah at the rate of two halachos a day in only… uh… 21 years (so you may want to get comfortable!). And then there’s A Responsum a Day by Rabbi Dr. Gidon Rothstein, which reviews a selection of responsa literature each day on the anniversary of that teshuva’s date. And let us not forget one of the crown jewels of OU Torah, the Dirshu Mishnah Brurah Yomi program, taught by Rabbi Aaron E. Glatt, MD.

The Dirshu Mishnah Brurah Yomi program is about to reach a milestone and turn a corner, so now is the perfect time to jump on the bandwagon. (Yeah, we mixed a few metaphors there but you get the idea.) On Thursday, September 26, Dirshu Mishnah Brurah Yomi will complete the fourth volume of Mishnah Brurah – the second of two volumes addressing hilchos Shabbos – and begin the fifth volume, with hilchos Pesach.

While Rav Yisroel Meir HaKohein is known as the Chofetz Chaim because of his seminal work on lashon hara, the Mishnah Brurah is truly his magnum opus and the Dirshu Mishnah Brurah Yomi enables one to learn his way through this book with clarity from a master of the work. Additionally, Rabbi Dr. Glatt’s son, Rabbi Ephraim Glatt, Esq., delivers an extra shiur weekly entitled the Mishnah Brurah Iyun Chaburah, which delves more deeply into one of the topics from the week’s Dirshu Mishnah Brurah Yomi lessons.

If your mind is too into Rosh Hashana to think about Pesach right now, remember that shiurim on the major part of Mishnah Brurah are already archived on our site, so you can go there at any time to learn more about such topics as our morning routines, brachos and tefillah, and, of course, Shabbos! Rabbi Glatt can be your personal Mishnah Brurah teacher at any hour of the day or night, 24/6!

Follow the Dirshu Mishnah Brurah Yomi program, the Mishnah Brurah Iyun Chaburah and more – on OU Torah or by using the OU Torah app for iOS and Android.
