Just a (Jewish) Thought

There are lots of categories on OU Torah. There’s Parsha – the weekly Torah portion. There’s Nach – the rest of the Jewish Bible. There’s Gemara, focusing on Daf Yomi, the daily page of Talmud studied worldwide. (Did you know? You can access content on any page of the Talmud – it doesn’t have to be the daily daf!) There’s Tefillah (prayer), Halacha (Jewish law) and more. But what’s this Machshava?

Machshava means Jewish thought. In our Machshava section, we have series on some of the seminal works of Jewish philosophy. These include Mesillas Yesharim – Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzato’s classic work of musar (self-improvement), taught by Rabbi Eliezer Feuer. We also have Chovos HaLevavos – the great work of Bachya ibn Pakuda, taught by Rabbi Avraham Chaim Feuer. Rabbi Benzion Twerski teaches the foundational text of chassidus, Sefer HaTanya, Daniel Adler teachers The 19 Letters of Rabbi Samson Rafael Hirsch, and Rabbi Jack Abramowitz (yours truly) adapts the Rambam’s Moreh Nevuchim (Guide for the Perplexed) in The God Papers.

But that’s not all! You’ll also find Rabbi Dr. Ari Zivotofsky‘s Tzarich Iyun, Rabbi Dr. Asher Meir AKA The Jewish Ethicist, Rabbi Ari Kahn on Machshava, Kuzari, and much more! So hop on over to Machshava on OU Torah and see what YOU think!
