Materials:
- Small slips of paper (cut into brick shapes), or sticky notes
- Pens/markers
- Tape or glue
- A wall or board space to “build” on (can be a poster, cardboard, or a wall at home)
Instructions:
- Begin with Reflection:
Talk briefly (or reflect quietly) about what Tisha B’Av represents—the destruction of the Beit Hamikdash, exile, pain in our history… and how, even in darkness, the Jewish people have always continued to build.
- Write a Brick:
Each person takes a paper “brick” and writes down one thing they can do to bring something positive into the world.
It could be a mitzvah, a commitment, a tefillah, an act of kindness, a person they want to support, or a quality they want to strengthen (like patience, compassion, emunah).
- Build Together:
As each person shares their brick, tape it up on the wall or board—brick by brick, creating a visual symbol of rebuilding. You’re not just remembering destruction—you’re actively building a future filled with light.
Closing Thought:
Remind everyone: Every brick counts. The smallest act has the power to bring the Shechinah closer. And just like generations before us, b’ezrat Hashem, we are building a world ready for redemption.
