Jewish Man Attacked in Crown Heights

24 Apr 2018
News

A Jewish man was beaten and choked while walking home from Sabbath services in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. The victim reports saying “good afternoon” to a man smoking a cigar on a street corner, after which the attacker “began yelling at me ‘you fake Jews, who are you saying hello to? Your fake Jews and you stole all my money and robbed me, and stole my mortgage and my house. I want to kill you!’” The victim attempted to walk away but the assailant followed, put him in a choke hold and threatened to kill him.

This is the second such attack in two weeks. The Friday night before, a Jewish man was attacked in Crown Heights near the Chabad  headquarters at 770 Eastern Parkway.

Police are considering the current assault a bias-motivated attack. The Anti-Defamation League announced $5,000 rewards for information leading to arrests and convictions in both attacks.
