Dirshu Mishnah Brurah Yomi Starts Sixth Volume Nov. 23

You may have seen Rabbi Aaron E. Glatt, MD‘s name with unusual regularity these past few months. As a specialist in infectious diseases, he has been at the forefront of the Jewish community’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. But in his other capacity, as Associate Rabbi at the Young Israel of Woodmere, he has been delivering shiurim for more than a quarter-century. OU Torah is privileged to feature one of these shiurim, namely Rabbi Dr. Glatt’s shiur on Dirshu Mishnah Brurah Yomi.

The Mishnah Brurah – the Chofetz Chaim’s magnum opus – is the preeminent work of practical halacha for the average Jew (as opposed to those who work in areas of halachic specialization like Jewish judges and kosher butchers). Covering all of Orach Chaim, the volume of Shulchan Aruch that deals with everyday life, Mishnah Brurah covers such relevant issues as Shabbos, holidays and prayer. With Dirshu Mishnah Brurah Yomi, participants can learn their way through this seminal work in approximately six years at the rate of a page of day, five days a week, with the wonderful Dirshu footnotes providing halachic additions on many contemporary problems.

On Monday, November 23, Dirshu Mishnah Brurah Yomi will begin the sixth and final cheilek (volume) of Mishnah Brurah. This volume addresses such important matters as the laws of chol hamoed, Tisha b’Av and other fasts, and the holidays of Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, Succos, Chanukah and Purim.

The day before, on Sunday, November 22, Rabbi Dr. Glatt will deliver “live + Zoom” shiurim for both Dirshu Mishnah Brurah Yomi starting the sixth cheilek and for Daf Yomi starting tractate Pesachim. The Mishnah Brurah shiur will be from 7:30-7:50 PM (Eastern), followed by the Daf shiur from 8:00- 8:50 at the Young Israel of Woodmere. (You can virtually join via Zoom meeting ID: 980 3243 6809; password: SUMMER2020, or join by phone at 929-205-6099.)

Hundreds have already benefited from the depth and clarity of Rabbi Glatt’s Mishnah Brurah shiurim; why not join them? (Even if you’re not prepared for the daily commitment, it’s nice to know that Rabbi Glatt’s shiurim are always there, ready to help to through any page of Mishnah Brurah!)
