Chief Executive Officer Rabbi Dr. Josh Joseph is Chief Executive Officer of the Orthodox Union (OU), the nation’s oldest and largest umbrella organization for American Orthodox Jewry. He was named CEO in August 2026 after serving as the OU’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer since September 2020. In his role as CEO, Josh is responsible for the management, business strategy, and professional alignment of all OU programs and operations. During his tenure at the OU, Josh lead the drive towards extraordinary organizational growth, expanding the number, reach, and impact of the OU’s programs and initiatives while building an increasingly strong culture of professionalism throughout the organization. Josh joined the OU from Yeshiva University, where he served in a variety of roles over 16 years, ultimately rising to senior vice president. In that role, he established and implemented strategic plans, managed the university’s operations as well as student-facing departments, and played key roles in major initiatives, including the university’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier in his career, he worked at a hedge fund and as a community rabbi, served as executive director of the Orthodox Caucus, and was director of social entrepreneurialism at Yeshiva University’s Center for the Jewish Future. A native of Montreal, Josh earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Ed.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. He received rabbinical ordination from Yeshiva University’s Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary and a Master of Arts in Jewish philosophy from its Bernard Revel Graduate School. He also completed fellowships and certificate programs at NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service and Harvard’s Institute for Higher Education. He and his wife, Julie, live in Lawrence, New York, and are the proud parents of Zach, Ozzie, and Marsha (and Sammy Struhl).
