Actor John Cusack, star of the films Say Anything and Gross Pointe Blank, tweeted an anti-Semitic image and slur, for which he subsequently apologized.
The image depicted a hand in a sleeve bearing a Jewish star crushing a group of people. It included the quote, “To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.” (The quote was incorrectly attributed to Voltaire.) Cusack tweeted the image with the caption, “Follow the money.”
When criticized, Cusack, said that he thought he was retweeting a “pro-Palestinian justice” post but he later conceded that the image was anti-Semitic and deleted the tweet, as well as his initial defense of it.
