Young Israel of Fort Lee Becomes OU Member Synagogue

23 Apr 2013

YOUNG ISRAEL OF FORT LEE BECOMES OU MEMBER SYNAGOGUE

The Orthodox Union Karasick Department of Synagogue Services and OU President Martin Nachimson of Los Angeles today announce that the Young Israel of Fort Lee has become an official OU member congregation. The rabbi is Neil Winkler.

The synagogue is located at 1610 Parker Avenue.

“As our congregation prepares to enter its beautiful new home, we have become even more aware of our obligation to provide for the growing Orthodox Jewish population of Fort Lee—not only for today but into the future as well,” stated Rabbi Winkler. “Toward that goal, the synagogue leadership chose to affiliate the congregation with the OU, the largest Orthodox synagogue network, that provides professional guidance and resources. We are confident that the new relationship we forge with the OU will benefit our membership, our leadership and our community at large.”

The OU recently also welcomed the Young Israel of Northridge (CA) and DelRay Orthodox Synagogue (FL) into its national synagogue network.

“The OU is honored to welcome the Young Israel of Fort Lee as a member of the OU Synagogue network,” stated Yehuda Friedman, associate director of OU Synagogue Services. “Belonging to the OU links members of the Young Israel of Fort Lee to a national network of Orthodox congregations and provides access to the various agencies of the OU, including NCSY, Yachad/National Jewish Council for Disabilities, OU Kosher, the OU Job Board, the Institute for Public Affairs and, of course, the Department of Community and Synagogue Engagement.”

Mr. Friedman also noted, “We are proud to be recognized for the value the OU provides to the leaders of OU member synagogues through initiatives which include the WINGS synagogue consulting program; youth professionals network; board development; and presidential mentoring. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with the OU’s newest member.”
