16 Jun 2009

Medicine, law, and accounting – these are some of the fields of study that require rigorous coursework and lectures. Yet for parenting, arguably the hardest – yet most rewarding – job out there, high-level education is required as well. Now, West Coast NCSY will provide just that when it presents a new series of classes on parenting for women (with their eldest children being between ages five and ten years old) featuring Rebbetzin Sima Spetner, a renowned educator and public speaker in Israel and former director of the cheder (religious elementary school for boys) of Rav Shlomo Wolbe zt”l.

The 21-hour series, which will take place over four days, is a project of Talmidei Aharon, a program of West Coast NCSY that focuses on educating on and developing healthy relationships between parents and children. The first class will take place on Sunday, August 9, from 7:00-10:00 p.m.; the next six classes will take place on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, August 10, 11, 12, from 9:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. and 7:00 -9:30 p.m. All sessions will take place at OU West Coast Headquarters, 9831 West Pico Boulevard.

Rabbi Effie Goldberg, Regional Director of West Coast NCSY and JSU, declared, “We are honored to be hosting Rebbetzin Sima Spetner, who is a distinguished parenting expert from Jerusalem. This lecture series has been long-awaited and is excitedly anticipated by parents of young children, and is truly an opportunity not to be missed.”

Advanced registration is required. The cost is $500 per person for the series; those who register must commit to attend all lectures. To sign up or for more information, contact 310-837-7385 or parenting@westcoastncsy.com.
