THE INDEFATIGABLE RABBI WEINREB TO DELIVER PRE-MAARIV TISHA B’AV SHIUR ONLY HOURS AFTER ANNUAL FOUR-HOUR OU.ORG WEBCAST
Only hours after completing his annual four-hour Tisha B’Av tour de force webcast on www.ou.org, in which he will expound with his vast learning on selected kinot for the day, OU Executive Vice President Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Weinreb will bring the long fast day to a close with a pre-Maariv shiur at Tiferes Yisroel – Ocean Parkway Jewish Center, at 7:55 p.m. Maariv follows at 8:55.
The synagogue is located at 550 Ocean Parkway, between 18th Avenue and Ditmas, across from Torah Temimah.
Rabbi Weinreb will speak about what he defines as “the importance of interpersonal sensitivity and how true spirituality is obtained only by care and concern for the other.” He will join such noted rabbonim as Rav Shlomo Pearl, Rav Baruch Rabinowitz, Rav Yosef Stern, Rav Noach Orlowek, Rav Paysach Krohn, Rav Ezriel Tauber, Rav Yosef Viener, Rav Shmuel Dishon, and Rav Mattisyohu Salomon, who will be lecturing all day at the synagogue.
“I feel especially privileged to be speaking from the same podium as such distinguished rabbis from so many communities,” Rabbi Weinreb said.
Considering he will be speaking non-stop for four hours in the morning, and that he will already be fasting 24 hours when he delivers his pre-Maariv shiur, Rabbi Weinreb has no concerns about being too tired or hungry to address the Tiferes Yisroel congregation.
“I find that my personal sense of excitement at being able to deliver my message to so many people gives me physical energy. The adrenalin substitutes for the food.”
