SYNGAGOUES CAN BE FUN: OU LEADS THE WAY AT CONGREGATION ANSHE SHOLOM IN NEW ROCHELLE ON SATURDAY NIGHT, NOVEMBER 7

Calling all fun-loving couples! Here is an opportunity you do not want to miss. On Saturday Night, November 7, four couples will become contestants in the Not the Newlywed Game or How Well Do You Know Your Spouse After All These Years? a fun program at Congregation Anshe Sholom in New Rochelle, which is based on the popular television game show, the Newlywed Game.

Husbands and wives who have been married for many years will be asked questions about their spouses to see how well (or not) they know each other. This is different from the television show that exclusively featured newlyweds.

The program is presented by the Orthodox Union’s Department of Community Services, in conjunction with Congregation Anshe Sholom of New Rochelle. It is sponsored in part through an outreach grant of UJA-Federation of New York.

The game show will be held at the congregation, 50 North Avenue. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. A dessert reception will sweeten the evening.

“Our purpose in hosting the game is one of outreach to the broader unaffiliated Jewish community in Westchester and beyond. We’re hoping that people will come to us and see a fun-filled, light and lively setting, get to know our community families in a cozy atmosphere conducive to relationship building, and not feel threatened by the trappings of an Orthodox synagogue, which some see as foreboding at first blush,” declared Rabbi Ely J. Rosenzveig of Congregation of Anshe Sholom.

”We are encouraging everyone from our congregation to come with at least one friend from outside our community. With Frank Buchweitz, the OU National Director of Community Services, leading the way, we are sure to have a great shul experience for all,” he said.

Admission is $18 per person. As part of the synagogue’s outreach effort, Anshe Sholom members can bring someone who is not a member for free. For more information and to reserve contact 914-632-9220 or asnewroch@aol.com.
