Southern NCSY Spring Regional: A Weekend With The Stars

17 Jun 2011

Newly inaugurated regional co-presidents Liron Ozery of Plantation, FL, and Simita Barrocas, of Boca Raton, holding Havdallah candles together.

More than 120 Jewish teens, from Savannah through Kendall, FL joined together at the International Palms Hotel in Cocoa Beach, FL to celebrate the end of an incredible year at the Southern NCSY Spring Regional Convention.

NCSY | Jewish Youth Leadership is the international youth movement of the Orthodox Union.

The weekend kicked off with a laser show at the BCC Planetarium & Observatory on Friday afternoon. Shabbat was brought in following a Pre-Shabbaos ruach that got everyone into the Shabbaton spirit. The theme of the weekend was “Reach for the Stars.”

The focus of Shabbat challenged each teen to look inside themselves and to find the greatness in their own potential. This inspirational Shabbat concluded with a powerful ebbing from Rabbi Nahum Zak and a moving Havdallah with Noah Lang.

Saturday Night was an evening to remember as NCSY celebrated its own “Stars” at the Academy Awards-themed Southern Regional Banquet. Everyone in attendance was amazed, entertained and inspired as the region recognized the great accomplishments of the seniors and chapters over the past year.
