The Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America mourns the tragic loss of life in yesterday’s cowardly attacks in Overland Park, Kansas. We join with people of good will everywhere to raise our voices against this cold-blooded aggression against innocents at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City and the Village Shalom senior living community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of each of the victims of this vicious, despicable act. Tonight, Jews across the world will gather at the Seder table to celebrate freedom from slavery and oppression. Let us pray that our country and the world will soon witness a renewed freedom — freedom from terror, freedom from wanton and senseless violence, and freedom from irrational hatred that demeans our humanity and threatens the bonds of brotherhood that unite us all.
