Rabbi and Mrs. Weil to Speak at Shomrei Emunah in Baltimore, November 4-5

OU’S RABBI AND MRS. WEIL TO SPEAK AT SHOMREI EMUNAH CONGREGATION IN BALTIMORE, NOVEMBER 4-5

Rabbi Steven Weil, Executive Vice President of the Orthodox Union, will visit Baltimore for Shabbat Parshat Lech Lecha — Friday, November 4-Saturday, November 5 — as Scholar-in-Residence at Shomrei Emunah Congregation, 6221 Greenspring Avenue.

Friday night, Rabbi Weil will present his widely-popular discussion “Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus: The Jewish Version” during an oneg at a private residence, beginning 8:15 p.m. He will give a Shabbat morning drasha at the OU member synagogue during the 9:00 a.m. minyan on “The Dialectical Jew: The Most Universal-Particular Person on Earth.” Rabbi Weil will also speak at the shul during seudah shlishit on “The Lessons of the Akeida.”

Mrs. Yael Weil will give a dvar Torah during a seduah shlishit for women at a private residence.

OU Executive Vice President, Emeritus, Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Weinreb, served as Rav of the congregation for 13 years prior to coming to the OU. Rabbi Binyamin Marwick, current Rav of Shomrei Emunah, served as Torah Educator, along with his wife Miriam, for the OU’s Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus (JLIC) program at Johns Hopkins University for three years prior to coming to Shomrei Emunah.

Rabbi Marwick noted, “On Shabbat Parshat Lech Lecha Nov. 4-5, Shomrei welcomes Rabbi Steven Weil, Executive Vice President of the Orthodox Union. Rabbi Weil will be meeting with the shul leadership as well as serving as a Scholar-in-Residence, addressing the shul in various forums during Shabbat. As an OU shul, we are excited to be hosting such a dynamic personality and looking forward to being inspired by and learning from him.”
