Rabbi Steven Weil, senior managing director at the Orthodox Union, will present an OU Community Weekend at the Young Israel of New Rochelle from Friday, November 21 to Saturday, November 22, Shabbat Parshat Toldot.
The OU-member synagogue is located at 1149 North Avenue.
On Friday night Rabbi Weil will lead an Oneg Shabbat –an informal gathering with refreshments, discussions, and singing – at the synagogue and speak on “Armageddon: Can We Prevent the Radicalization of the World? A Perspective on Ongoing Events in Arab Countries.”
During Shabbat hashkama (early morning) services, Rabbi Weil will be speaking on the topic “The Eternal Debate Highlighted in Parshat Toldot.” He will deliver his sermon during the main synagogue’s morning service on “Aftermath of the Apocalypse: Opportunities for the Orthodox to Influence the Future of the American Jewish Community in Light of the Pew Report.”
Following the mincha (afternoon) service Rabbi Weil will give a talk on “Quality of Marriage in the Orthodox Community.” On Saturday night, Rabbi Weil will culminate the weekend with his presentation on “Wall Street, Main Street, Madison Avenue: New Perspectives on Avraham Avinu, our forefather Abraham.”
