Rabbi Moshe Benovitz, longtime director of NCSY Kollel, recently assumed his new position as International NCSY’s Managing Director. Rabbi Benovitz, based in Ramat Bet Shemesh, Israel, has a 25-year career history with NCSY, the Orthodox Union’s international youth movement, and will be traveling to regions across North America as part of his duties in his new position. He will supervise NCSY’s activities throughout the world working with NCSY International Director Rabbi Micah Greenland and Associate International NCSY Director Keevy Fried.
“We aim to provide support, structure, goals, and mentoring to NCSY regional directors and staff and their constituents,” explained Rabbi Benovitz. “We also aim to expand our impact and numbers of teen members as well as branching out to new regions. Rabbi Greenland has laid out an ambitious agenda for the future and I look forward to helping him attain his goals for the organization,” he added.
Rabbi Greenland shared, “Rabbi Benovitz is an insightful and experienced Jewish leader and educator, whom I have long admired for his wisdom and commitment to the Jewish people. The opportunity to promote him to a position of greater influence in NCSY is a truly exciting one, and he is already having a tremendous impact on the professionals with whom he is working most closely. I am thrilled to have him as such a close partner in leading NCSY and looking forward to accomplishing more for the Jewish community as a result of Moshe’s leadership and initiative.”
Part of NCSY’s international expansion includes Israel as well as its numerous regions throughout North America plus South America. Rabbi Benovitz will also be involved in recruiting for NCSY summer programs and will continue to lead the NCSY Kollel Program based in Beit Meir, Israel.
Rabbi Benovitz began his involvement with NCSY, the Orthodox Union’s youth movement, as a high school student in Teaneck, New Jersey, in the 1980s and has been involved with throughout his professional career. After high school he studied at Yeshivat Kerem B’Yavneh in Israel. A graduate of Yeshiva University, Rabbi Benovitz earned his B.A. in Psychology and rabbinic ordination from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary.
Rabbi Benovitz is a respected Jewish educator and professional who currently teaches at Yeshivat Reishit in Ramat Bet Shemesh. He previously served as Director of Student Activities at the Davis Renov Stahler Yeshiva High School for Boys of the Hebrew Academy of Long Beach (DRS/HALB) located in Woodmere, New York. He has also taught at the Marsha Stern Talmudical Academy (MTA) at Yeshiva University High School for Boys in Manhattan as well as the Bruriah High School for Girls in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
