Speaking before a crowd of Jewish community, synagogue and day school lay leaders from across the state who convened for the second of OU Advocacy-PA’s gubernatorial candidate forums, Governor Tom Corbett discussed his positions on the economy, the state of Pennsylvania’s education system and the future of the state.
“The number one item we invest in is education—more than 40 percent of the budget,” said Gov. Corbett.
“Gov. Corbett has been a true friend for non-public schools. Not only did he invest $25 million into the Education Investment Tax Credit program, $50 million into the Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit program and $8 million into school safety, but he ensured that non-public schools were included in all these initiatives so that every child could have these options and also be in a safe learning environment,” said Karen Barall, OU Advocacy’s Mid-Atlantic Director.
