Our Way, an Orthodox Union program for the deaf and hearing impaired, together with the Russian Community and Congregation B’Nai Israel, 671 Louisiana Avenue, invite the Jewish deaf and their families to a Shabbaton (Sabbath experience) March 10-11.
Highlights of the weekend include the presence of Deaf Scholar-in-Residence Rabbi Avrummy Goldman and his wife Ruchi.
Along with special programming, the Shabbaton will provide three delicious meals and snacks; an interpreted synagogue service; a beginner’s prayer service; child care; and an opportunity to join together with others from the deaf community to live and learn about Judaism.
To attend this event, send an application and check for $25, payable to Our Way, to Isay and Malka Semendayev, 4190 Bedford Avenue, Apartment # 7M, Brooklyn, NY 11229. You can also contact them at 718-934-5136 / 917-861-4505 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
