Lag B’Omer is traditionally a time for bonfires, but this year, the Young Leadership Cabinet (YLC) of the Orthodox Union is making water the theme of the day. YLC is sponsoring a cruise benefitting Yachad, OU’s program for people with disabilities, Thursday, May 22, 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., sailing from Skyport Marina, 23rd Street and East River.
YLC is a group of young professionals who are committed to building a stronger Jewish community, enhancing Jewish education, and supporting Israel by taking leadership roles in major American Jewish organizations. Yachad/National Jewish Council for Disabilities is an agency of the OU that provides educational and social inclusion programs through its two major components, Yachad, for children and adults with learning and developmental disabilities, and Our Way for the deaf and hard of hearing.
The cruise will feature the live musical entertainment of Bsamim Productions, a menu highlighting Tex-Mex cuisine, and an added bonus of exciting prizes to be raffled off.
According to Tzivia Arnow, Director of YLC, “The cruise is a chance for young professionals to have a fun evening out, while at the same time contributing to Yachad programming.” She encourages those interested in attending the event to sign up early, as limited space is available.
The cost of the cruise is $75, with an early bird (May 12) discount of $60. Raffle packages are also available. $125 per person includes three raffles, $180 per person includes five, $360 per person includes 12, and $500 per person includes 25.
