DAT MINYAN OF DENVER BECOMES OU MEMBER SYNAGOGUE
The DAT (Denver Academy of Torah) Minyan of Denver has become an Orthodox Union member synagogue. The formalizing of ties between the OU and the congregation was announced by Martin Nachimson of Los Angeles, Chairman of the Synagogue Standards Commission of the Orthodox Union.
“DAT wants to be part of an active Jewish organization which can help the congregation and its community grow,” Mr. Nachimson said. “It’s a young, growing shul looking to the Orthodox Union for identification.”
Rabbi Asher Klein of DAT said, “We are very excited about the opportunities and benefits that being an OU shul affords. The credibility of being part of a nationally recognized organization with similar worldviews and religious alignment, as well as the resources that are available in departments such as Synagogue Services and NCSY, will surely make our shul stronger. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship as we continue to strengthen Orthodoxy together.”
The synagogue’s new President is Howie Shapiro.
The OU also welcomed the Young Israel of Elkins Park, in suburban Philadelphia, into its national synagogue network.
“The OU is pleased to welcome new synagogues into our growing national network. We are proud to be recognized for the value the OU provides to its synagogues through the WINGS, Synagogue Consulting program, the Shul2Shul web platform and the online program bank. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with our newest members,” said Rabbi Judah Isaacs, Director of the OU Department of Community Engagement and Yehuda Friedman, Associate Director of Synagogue Services, in a statement.
