29 Nov 2007

OU TO PRESENT ITS HIGHLY ACCLAIMED POSITIVE JEWISH PARENTING SEMINAR DECEMBER 25, AT TIFERETH ISRAEL OF PASSAIC

To strengthen parents’ child-rearing skills and to help them to effectively communicate with their children, the Orthodox Union’s Department of Community Services, in conjunction with Tifereth Israel of Passaic, will present the Second Annual Somaich Achim / JFS Community-Wide Program Positive Jewish Parenting on Tuesday, December 25. Admission is free.

The OU’s Positive Jewish Parenting has been presented to large audiences across North America on a variety of practical daily parenting issues and topics; now many Passaic-area families will benefit from the program as well. It will be held at the synagogue, Tifereth Israel, 180 Passaic Avenue, starting with registration and a light breakfast at 8:30 a.m.

The presentations, based on Jewish values, will focus on strengthening relationships, enhancing communication, and developing healthy self-esteem in children. The keynote address will be given at 11:00 a.m. by Rabbi Yakov Horowitz on Raising Emotionally Resilient Children in Challenging Times.
The program is sponsored l’iluy nismas David Yifrach ben Tuvia z”l.

According to Frank Buchweitz, OU National Director of Community Services and Special Projects, “The OU is pleased to partner with its member congregations all over the country to benefit their communities.” On December 25, he continued, “couples in Passaic can spend the morning learning from experts in the field and in our community.”

“From years of experience we have learned just how crucial these workshops are for families and we hope that they will continue to benefit Orthodox communities throughout the country,” he added.
