OU PRESS TO CO-PUBLISH SENATOR LIEBERMAN’S UPCOMING BOOK ABOUT SHABBAT

Senator Joseph Lieberman is working on a book about the Jewish Sabbath.

Simon & Schuster’s Howard Books division, working together with OU Press | Jewish Educational Publications, will publish in August, The Gift of Rest: Rediscovering the Beauty of the Sabbath. The book is an exploration of the profound impact observance of the Jewish Sabbath has had on Senator Lieberman.

A longtime Connecticut Senator and the author of numerous books, the Senator recently announced he would not run in 2012. In 2000, he ran for Vice President as Al Gore’s running mate.

This book is among the upcoming offerings from OU Press, the publishing house of the Orthodox Union, that recently published Darosh Darash Yosef: Discourses of Rav Yosef Dov Halevi Soloveitchik on the Weekly Parashah by Rabbi Avishai David and Unlocking the Torah Text on Vayikra by Rabbi Shmuel Goldin. Important future books include Festivals of Faith: Reflections on the Jewish Holidays by Rabbi Norman Lam and the Koren Mesorat HaRav Siddur, a new prayerbook with a profound commentary based on the teachings of Rabbi Soloveitchik, accompanied by the eloquent translation of the prayers by Rabbi Jonathan Sacks and the popular Koren layout.
