OU President Stephen J. Savitsky to Visit Dallas Jewish Community, January 23-24

15 Jan 2009

As part of his 10-city, Presidential Tour of Jewish communities across North America, Orthodox Union President Stephen J. Savitsky will visit Dallas the Shabbat weekend of January 23-24. Mr. Savitsky inaugurated this year’s Presidential Community Tour with a visit in September to Omaha. He recently returned from trips to Portland, OR, Miami Beach, and Seattle.

Mr. Savitsky will meet with the Jewish community and deliver a series of talks throughout Shabbat.

On Friday morning, Mr. Savitsky will address Yavneh Academy of Dallas. On Friday afternoon, he will visit the new NCSY center and speak with some of the teens who are NCSY members. NCSY is the international youth organization of the Orthodox Union.

Rabbi Israel Lashak, NCSY Southwest Regional Director, stated, “The Southwest Region of NCSY is very happy to welcome Mr. Savitsky, a true Jewish visionary and leader, to Dallas.”

On Friday night and Shabbat morning, Mr. Savitsky will speak at Congregation Shaare Tefilla. Rabbi Ari Perl declared, “We’re very excited about hosting Mr. Savitsky for Shabbat. The opportunity to hear directly from its president about the OU’s vision for American Orthodoxy and how Shaare Tefilla, as a member synagogue in Dallas, can be a part of that vision, is very exciting. Dallas is a great place for young, Orthodox families to consider raising their children.”

Mr. Savitsky will speak at Congregation Ohr HaTorah Saturday afternoon. He will also participate in various meetings with lay leadership, synagogue and school board members.
