As part of his 10-city, Presidential Tour of Jewish communities across North America, Orthodox Union President Stephen J. Savitsky will visit Richmond the Shabbat weekend of April 24-25. Mr. Savitsky inaugurated this year’s Presidential Community Tour with a visit in September to Omaha. He recently returned from trips to Portland, OR, Miami Beach, and Dallas.
Mr. Savitsky will meet with the Jewish community and deliver a series of talks throughout Shabbat.
On Shabbat morning, Mr. Savitsky will address the congregation of Kenneseth Beth Israel, his primary host for Shabbat. He will also speak at Seudah Shlishit, which follows the afternoon prayer service. Rabbi Daniel Yolkut declared, “We are very excited to host President Savitsky. Kenesseth Beth Israel has been a long-time member of the Orthodox Union, and we hope to only continue to strengthen our mutual mandate of enlightening the community to the beauty of classical Torah learning and observance.”
Rabbi Rocky Caine, NCSY Assistant Regional Director of the Baltimore-based Atlantic Seaboard Region (which counts Richmond among its chapters), will be there for Shabbat. “On behalf of NCSY, I am proud to be able to welcome Mr. Savitsky to the wonderful community of Richmond. I look forward to greeting Mr. Savitsky and spending Shabbat in this area so rich with history and thriving with Jewish life.”
