OU PRESENTS FAIR LAWN COMMUNITY-WIDE SHABBATON ON “POSITIVE JEWISH FAMILIES” AT CONGREGATION SHOMREI TORAH, SEPTEMBER 16-17

The OU Department of Community Services | Jewish Community Programs presents a special community-wide Shabbaton in Fair Lawn, focusing on “Positive Jewish Families.” The weekend of Friday, September 16-Saturday, September 17, two leading Orthodox Jewish mental health professionals will discuss relevant and timely issues pertaining to healthy parenting and relationships, at OU member Congregation Shomrei Torah, 19-10 Morlot Avenue.

Friday night at 9:15 p.m. at separate residences, Alex Bailey, Ph.D. will discuss “After the Honeymoon: Displaying Affection Throughout the Marriage” and Lauren Roth, LSW will address “How to Successfully Parent Children of Any Age.”

Immediately following morning davening at the synagogue, Dr. Bailey will address “The Good, the Bad, and the Challenging: How to Communicate Life Events to Our Children,” as Mrs. Roth presents “When and How to Say ‘No’ to Your Child.”

Beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the synagogue, Dr. Bailey will address “Your Adolescents: Setting Limits and Getting Them to Listen…Effectively” and Mrs. Roth will present “When Other Children Tease Your Child: What Can You Do?”

Mincha prayers will be held at 6:35 p.m. following the Shabbat afternoon presentations. There will be a Question and Answer session with Dr. Bailey and Mrs. Roth regarding any parenting matters during seudat shlishit, which will take place at the synagogue following Mincha.

Free programming will be available for children ages 18 months-five years old during the Shabbat afternoon presentations, under the direction of Debbie Lesnoy, Director of the Leah Sokoloff Nursery School of Shomrei Torah. To register children, email lsns18@yahoo.com.
