OU PRESENTS ON-SITE AND LIVE NATIONAL WEBCAST ON “BOARD STRUCTURE, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES” NOVEMBER 29 FOR SYNAGOGUE LEADERSHIP

As the umbrella organization for synagogues throughout North America, the Orthodox Union has an ongoing commitment of strengthening communal and synagogue leadership. The Departments of Community and Synagogue Services are planning professional seminars to enhance leadership and management skills which are vital in meeting the multi-dimensional needs of both the synagogue and its membership. The OU will present a series of national webcasts geared for leadership over the next several months on various facets of synagogue management.

The first national webcast of these series will focus on “Board Structure, Roles and Responsibilities” from 6:00p.m.-7:00p.m. EST on Monday, November 29. In addition to the national audience, local synagogue representatives are invited to be present for this session at OU Headquarters, to network with other leadership.

Dr. Linda Klonsky, of LK Consulting in Silver Spring, MD, will be addressing issues such as “How can board structure reflect synagogue vision, leadership roles and responsibilities?” “What issues should be tackled by the board?” and “What committees should be established and what is their relationship with the board?” For almost two decades, she has been a recognized expert on leadership training and organizational development, specifically consulting on synagogue leadership development.

“This webcast will address key components of strengthening synagogue boards, to foster a greater cohesiveness and team effort,” declared Frank Buchweitz, National Director of Community Services, and event coordinator.
