The Orthodox Union Job Board will present a seminar on LinkedIn, Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at OU Headquarters, 11 Broadway, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. It will be conducted by Allan H. Glazer. The seminar is free, but a contribution is suggested to help keep future programs free as well.
Mr. Glazer, originally from Zambia, has been involved in sales and business development for most of his life in the several countries where he has resided, including South Africa, Israel, Canada and the United States.
According to Job Board Director Michael Rosner, “Opportunities are created; rarely if ever do they just happen. Recruiters are actively pursuing clients via LinkedIn so your profile actually becomes your resume.
“How you present yourself is how you will be perceived,” Mr. Rosner declared. “Is your elevator pitch up to standard? Make sure your profile is rich and represents you appropriately. Plan today for tomorrow with good connections and learn the art of networking. That is what this program is all about.” (An elevator pitch is a brief summary of who or what you are that tells the listener all about you/company in the time it takes to take an elevator to your floor, or about 30-45 seconds, Mr. Rosner explains.)
The session will include the following:
• What are the basic ingredients of a solid profile? Do you need endorsements, recommendations? • Using the information technology highway to your advantage; • Networking – creating relationships on LinkedIn; • How do I reach those people? Creating relationships on LinkedIn – how is that done?
