ORTHODOX UNION CONGRATULATES MONTGOMERY COUNTY NONPROFITS ON RECEIVING ENERGY GRANTS
The Orthodox Union congratulates Montgomery County, MD synagogues successful in acquiring grant money after their participation in the Montgomery County Energy Rebate Program. The Orthodox Union thanks Maryland State Senator Jamie Raskin, Delegate Sam Arora and Council Members Valerie Ervin and Hans Riemer for their assistance in helping Orthodox Jewish synagogues secure these energy funds.
Orthodox Jewish synagogues were the beneficiaries in receiving more than $50,000 in energy grant money to ensure that their facilities are energy efficient. In the past, Montgomery County has provided similar grant programs to residential and commercial entities. This is the first time that these resources have been made available to nonprofits.
Delegate Sam Arora said, “I am proud to have partnered with the Orthodox Union to help synagogues in our community save money, help the environment and be more energy efficient. I look forward to continuing to work together on similar projects.”
Maury Litwack, National Deputy Director of Public Policy for the Orthodox Union, declared, “The Orthodox Union has been the leader in creating and promoting public policy which subsidizes energy efficient retrofits for our Jewish day schools and synagogues. This Maryland funding is the latest example in what happens when a community articulates real needs to elected officials seeking ways to help.”
