OU Women’s Torah Network Presents Discussion on Women of Redemption with Rivy Poupko Kletenik

The Orthodox Union’s Women’s Torah Network will present Rivy Poupko Kletenik as scholar-in-residence on Sunday, February 23 from 10 a.m. to noon at the YULA Girls High School. Mrs. Kletenik will be speaking on the topic “They Too Were in the Miracle: Esther, Yehudit and the Women of Redemption.”

The school is located at 1619 S. Robertson Boulevard. Registration is $18 per person, $10 per student. The program also includes a breakfast buffet. Deadline for RSVP is February 14.

In addition to serving as Head of School at the Seattle Hebrew Academy, Mrs. Kletenik lectures nationally on Jewish topics and is a monthly columnist for “JQ” in Seattle’s JTNews. She was a 2002 recipient of the Covenant Award for Exceptional Jewish Educators and was co-editor of the Conference on Alternatives in Jewish Education (CAJE) publications, “Turning Heaven and Earth” and “Eat, Drink and Be Merry.” In 2010 she was awarded the Pamela Waechter Jewish Communal Professional Award by the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. On a personal level, Rivy is married to Rabbi Moshe Kletenik, Av Beth Din of Greater Seattle and former congregational rabbi at Bikur Cholim Machzikay Hadath Congregation in Seattle.  Together they have four children and six grandchildren.

Mrs. Kletenik explained, “We will be discussing the women’s obligation in regard to mitzvot of Purim, Chanukah and Pesach, which are all linked to the Talmudic dictum of Rabbi Yehoshua about women being in the miracle. We will address how we approach all the ramifications of this declaration.”
