OU Advocacy-Teach NYS and Yachad Launch Online Education Resource of Govt-Funded Programs for NY Private School Parents

    OU Advocacy-Teach NYS, the nonpartisan public policy arm of the Orthodox Union, together with Yachad, the flagship program of the OU’s National Jewish Council for Disabilities, has launched an online education resource for parents in New York State.   The Parent Education Resource Center, www.ouadvocacy.org/teachnys, is the only web site that covers the full array of government-funded educational programs and services available to students attending private and parochial schools.Using an easy-to-follow question-and-answer format, the Parent Education Resource Center site is a “one-stop shop” for reliable, detailed information for parents, including:

  • Learning differences, disabilities and evaluations
  • Common Core state standards and how to help your child succeed
  • Reading resources
  • Accessing the New York City Department of Education Special Education Services
  • IDEA and Title I Services
  • High School resources
  • Transition planning
