Alumni of Orthodox Union programs, including all regions of NCSY, “birthright israel,” and the Jewish Student Union (JSU) are being welcomed back into the company of their old friends. Those alumni who graduated from their programs in the last ten years are invited to a free Shabbaton in New Jersey, Friday, May 4-Saturday, May 5 that promises to be a spiritually rewarding experience and a fun time as well.
While reuniting with old friends and recapturing the experiences of times past, the alumni will enjoy delicious Shabbat cuisine and home hospitality in Passaic. In addition to food, socializing, and post-Shabbat music, Rabbi Steven Burg, National Director of NCSY and Dean of JSU; Rabbi Dave Felsenthal, Director of NCSY Alumni and former Director of NCSY “birthright israel;” and Rabbi Yaakov Glasser, Regional Director of NCSY New Jersey will lead inspirational sessions.
“This type of retreat should be replicated throughout the nation because it keeps the flame alive for anyone who has ever experienced the magic of NCSY,” declared Rabbi Felsenthal, of Passaic.
Only months after the last reunion, which attracted more than 270 NCSY alumni and their families to the Sheraton Parsippany Castle, this Shabbaton will differ by providing home hospitality and attracting a younger age group. “This type of Shabbaton is much easier for recent alumni to attend because there are no expenses,” declared Rabbi Felsenthal.
