As the holiday of Shavuot approaches, the Orthodox Union will present another in its Community Lunch and Learn series: Getting Ready for Shavuot, two weekly sessions which will take place Monday, May 22, and Tuesday, May 30.
Lunch and Learn is a program of the OU’s Department of Community Services and will be held at OU headquarters, 11 Broadway, 14th floor.
The sessions will consist of lunch, a shiur (lecture), and the Mincha service.
“The holiday of Shavuot, which is focused on the receiving of the Torah, is intensely spiritual and features all-night Torah study as a major componet of its observance,” declared Rabbi Robert Shur, program coordinator. “The Getting Ready for Shavuot series will provide a preliminary learning experience to prepare participants for the coming Festival.”
The sessions are as follows:
* Monday, May 22, 12:45 p.m. – Understanding Kabalat HaTorah: Rabbi Tzvi Hersh Weinreb, OU Executive Vice President.
* Tuesday, May 30, 12:45 p.m. – Birchot HaTorah: Rabbi Zvi Sobolosky, Rosh Yeshiva, Yeshiva University.
Admission, which includes lunch, is $10 per session.
