AT ANNUAL DINNER, MAY 18, THE YAVNEH MINYAN, AN OU MEMBER, TO HONOR RABBI MOSHE SOKOL’S 18 YEARS OF LEADERSHIP
There will be a distinct Orthodox Union presence when the Yavneh Minyan of Brooklyn, an OU member congregation, will honor its spiritual leader (morah d’atra), Rabbi Moshe Sokol, on Sunday, May 18, at 6:00 pm. The event, which will take place at the Young Israel of Avenue K, 2818 Avenue K, will pay tribute to the past 18 years of Rabbi Sokol’s leadership. In addition to his rabbinical duties, Rabbi Sokol is also Dean of Lander College for Men, a division of Touro College.
Rabbi Menachem Genack, CEO of OU Kosher, and Rabbi Bernard Lander, Founder and President, Touro College, as well as an OU Board Member, will be the featured speakers at the congregation’s ninth annual dinner.
Rabbi Genack, who will be speaking about the contemporary message of Lag B’Omer (May 23, this year), said, “As a member of the board of trustees at Touro College, and by being a personal friend of Rabbi Sokol, I have witnessed and have great respect for his religious and academic leadership.”
Rabbi Sokol has inspired the Yavneh Minyan, as well as the greater Jewish community, with his wisdom, warmth, and words of Torah for the past 18 years. The dinner provides an opportunity for appreciative congregants and community members to display their gratitude.
