About SPIRIT
SPIRIT attracts Retirees, Not-yet-Retirees, Baby Boomers, Empty Nesters, Sandwich generation parents, and Seniors. The OU recognizes that as the generation of baby boomers leave their professional responsibilities, they seek spiritual, educational, physical, and intellectual stimulation. The OU created SPIRIT 13 years ago as an on-site program and for over 6 years now has become an online program, which has attracted over 10,000 people from throughout the United States and 26 other countries.
SPIRIT programs include weekly sessions on Zoom, Tuesdays at Noon EDT, and focus on timely topics that interest the +60 demographic that are offered at no charge to participants. Most sessions are recorded and sent out to all who register. The MELVIN & MIRELE STEINIG ENRICHMENT CENTER FOR LIFELONG LEARNING features several multi-session courses during the year — a small tuition charge is required for participation in these courses. Support groups are also offered for People with Parkinson’s. SPIRIT OU RELIEF MISSIONS offer exciting travel while offering assistance in communities.
