Spotlight on a Team OU Member

It’s time for another Spotlight on a Team OU Member. Last time, one of our longest-standing employees was featured; this time, we are taking a look at one of our newest: NCSY‘sKeevy Fried.

Keevy FriedAssociate International Director of NCSY, joins us from UJA-Federation, where he spent four years as Development Executive in the Wall Street and Financial Services Division. Keevy’s path to the OU was a fortuitous one. He approached NCSY International Director Rabbi Steven Burg, a respected leader who knows the landscape, for career guidance in the Jewish world. During the course of their discussions, it became apparent that Keevy possessed the skill set that Rabbi Burg was seeking for that position and the rest is history. “I came in for advice and walked out with a job,” Keevy quipped.

In his capacity as Associate International Director, Keevy is responsible to implement NCSY organizational vision. In addition to managing NCSY National staff, Keevy liaises with NCSY Regions, consulting with them to professionalize fund-raising efforts and more.

While Keevy could tell you about NCSY’s mission, he says that things really clicked at the NCSY National Yarchei Kallah in December. “I saw 200 public school kids getting into the beauty of Shabbos and making life-changing choices,” he said. “As much as it transformed them, it transformed my understanding of the work NCSY does.”

Keevy has a Masters in Social Work from Fordham University. He resides in Far Rockaway with his wife, the former Deena Hochheiser, of a family prominent in Central East NCSY. Fun facts about Keevy include that he has served as a volunteer fire fighter in Lawrence-Cedarhust and that he has spent 11 years at Camp Morasha, in every capacity from camper to lifeguard to Assistant Director of Operations, but never as a counselor. We are thrilled to welcome him to Team OU!
