NJCD/Yachad Preview for 2012

NJCD/Yachad has shared with us a preview of what we can look forward to coming up in 2012:

January – Team Yachad’s run in the Miami Marathon and Half-Marathon is ready to go. With more than 130 runners already registered, Team Yachad is ready to make a splash in South Beach! An article about this in the Miami Herald and can be found here. Team Yachad was also asked to serve on a committee of charities with groups running in the Miami Marathon to see how the marathon can be more charity-friendly.

February – The OU and Yachad are proud to announce that once again February will be North American Inclusion Month (NAIM). NAIM is a month dedicated to bringing the mission of inclusion to communities around the country who might not otherwise have formal inclusive programs. Yachad has sermonic material, educational materials, scholars-in-residence and sensitivity training that enable each participant to learn what it is like to live with certain disabilities. For more information, visit www.naim4inclusion.com.

March – For the first time in five years, Yachad is proud to announce that, together with the Hartman Family Foundation, the famous NY Yachad Family Shabbaton will be heading to the Midwest! The Yachad Family Shabbaton – a hit for the last 25 years – offers something for every member of the family. Sessions for parents, Yachad members, siblings and other relatives are offered on many different aspects of living with a family member with a disability. The goal is to bring together families from all over the Midwest to spend a Shabbos together learning, singing and enjoying each other’s company.

April –The David Bensmihen Charitable Foundation & Boca Home Care Services proudly announce Matisyahu live in concert at The Fontainebleau Hotel on Monday April 9, first night of Chol Hamoed Pesach. All Proceeds will benefit Yachad.

May – Yachad is proud to present its 26th annual NY Yachad Family Shabbaton. This year’s event will be held at the Hudson Valley Resort and Spa in Kerhonkson, NY on May 4-6. Incredibly, last year’s event had exactly 613 participants and this year’s promises to be even bigger.
