Teach NYS, a project of the Orthodox Union, responded to Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s 2018 executive budget proposal unveiled this afternoon.

Teach Advocacy Network Executive Director Maury Litwack said: “In this difficult budgetary climate we are thankful for the Governor’s leadership. We appreciate the proposed funding included in the 2018 budget and the Governor’s recognition of the role over 1600 nonpublic schools play in educating approximately 400,000 children in New York State. Most significantly, we thank the Governor for continuing the STEM instructional funding program, which he mentioned in his speech today. We are also encouraged by his support for important programs like mandated services, the comprehensive attendance policy and security funding. We look forward to working with the Governor and our partners in the state legislature as the budget process develops.”
