OU EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT RABBI STEVEN WEIL TO LEAD ELUL LECTURE SERIES IN TEANECK AT CONGREGATION BNAI YESHURUN; SEPTEMBER 15, 22; OCTOBER 6

As the Hebrew month of Elul focuses on preparations for Rosh HaShana and Yom Kippur, Rabbi Steven Weil, Executive Vice President of the Orthodox Union, will present a three-part lecture series in Teaneck dedicated to this special period of time of self-introspection and repentance.

Held on Thursday evenings, the classes will take place at 8:00 p.m. on September 15, September 22, and October 6, at OU member Congregation Bnai Yeshurun, 641 W Englewood Avenue. The classes are free, and open for all.

As Rabbi Weil noted, “The machzor contains some of the most sublime and abstract prayers of the year. The series will focus on analyzing the meaning, and developing the motifs of these prayers.”

During the course of the series, Rabbi Weil will explore “The Most Sublime Prayer of the Year: An Analysis of the Rosh Hashana Mussaf;” “Grappling with and Confronting the Rosh Hashana Machzor;” and “The Transformative Landmarks of the Yom Kippur Machzor.”

Previously, Rabbi Weil led a well-received lecture series at the synagogue on “Tisha B’Av and the Kinot (memorial dirges recited on Tisha B’Av).”
