OU’s Stephen Savitsky to Visit Stamford as Scholar-in-Residence, This Shabbat

OU CHAIRMAN STEPHEN J. SAVITSKY TO SERVE AS SCHOLAR-IN-RESIDENCE AT CONGREGATION AGUDATH SHOLOM IN STAMFORD, THIS SHABBAT, OCTOBER 4-5

Orthodox Union Chairman of the Board Stephen J. Savitsky, who as President and in his current position has traveled far and wide bringing the message of the OU to member congregations, will present an OU Weekend in Stamford this Shabbat, October 4-5, Parshat Noach, at Congregation Agudath Sholom, 301 Strawberry Hill Avenue.

The OU member synagogue is led by Rabbi Daniel Cohen.

At a special Friday night dinner at the synagogue, Mr. Savitsky will address, “Will We Fail or Seize the Moment? The Future of American Orthodoxy.” Shabbat morning, he will discuss “The Torah’s Secret Mitzvah for Success.” Later in the afternoon, Mr. Savitsky will speak during the shul’s seudah shlishit (third meal of the Sabbath) on “Being an Observant Jew: Burden or Privilege?” Saturday night following Shabbat, Mr. Savitsky will speak on “Leadership” in participation with in a special board retreat.

“We are looking forward to Mr. Savitsky’s visit to our community,” said Rabbi Cohen. “His wisdom, vision and engaging personality will spark ideas and renewed appreciation for our role as Orthodox Jews in the modern world. I had the pleasure of hosting Mr. Savitsky and his wife as a rabbi in West Hartford and in Denver, and I know that our congregation will be motivated and moved not only by his words but model for menschlechkeit and leadership within the national Jewish community.”
