STEPHEN SAVITSKY, OU CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD, TO VISIT ENGLEWOOD AND RABBI GENACK AS CONGREGATION SHOMREI EMUNAH SCHOLAR-IN-RESIDENCE, NOVEMBER 30-DECEMBER 1

Stephen J. Savitsky, Orthodox Union Chairman of the Board and a three-time President of the organization before assuming his current role, will visit Englewood as the Scholar-in-Residence at Congregation Shomrei Emunah the weekend of Friday, November 30-Saturday, December 1 (Shabbat Parshat Vayishlach). There, he will be the guest of Rabbi Menachem Genack, CEO of OU Kosher and Rabbi of the Congregation. Among Mr. Savitsky’s previous OU positions, he served as Chairman of the OU Kashrut Commission.

The OU member synagogue is located at 89 Huguenot Avenue.

Mr. Savitsky’s visit is part of a Community Weekend, hosted by the Karasik Department of Synagogue Services of the Orthodox Union.

At a private residence on Friday night, Mr. Savitsky and Rabbi Genack will hold a Town Hall Meeting to discuss, “What Issues Could Derail the Explosive Growth of Orthodoxy?”

Mr. Savitsky will speak at the 8:40 a.m. Shacharit on “A Lot More Than Kosher Food.” At seudat shlishit as the shul following Mincha at 4:05 p.m., he will address, “Must It Take Sandy for Us to Achieve Achdut?”

Rabbi Genack noted, “Congregation Shomrei Emunah is very excited to host Stephen Savitsky as our Scholar-in-Residence. We are a very small shul, and we will greatly benefit from hearing from one of American Jewry’s leaders and visionaries. Working with Steve Savitsky over many years has been an integral part of my experience at the OU.”
