Southern NCSY Hosting Leadership Training Shabbaton In Bal Harbour With Rabbi Steven Weil, 12/6-7

27 Nov 2013

Boca Raton-based Southern NCSY will be holding a leadership training Shabbaton at the Young Israel of Bal Harbour from Friday, December 6 – Saturday, December 7 (Shabbat Parshat Vayigash) with special guest Rabbi Steven Weil, Executive Vice President of the Orthodox Union. The synagogue is located at 9592 Harding Avenue, Surfside.

The Shabbaton will be hosting at least 30 of the region’s most promising next generation leaders from yeshiva day schools, community schools, public schools and private academies. On Friday night, there will be an Evening of Inspiration Shabbat Dinner with nearly 100 donors, parents and communal leaders joining the program. Teen leaders will be leading zemirot and delivering divrei Torah.

Rabbi Weil will be discussing “After the Pew” on Shabbat morning and will be running leadership workshops presenting the role of lay leaders on a global stage. In the afternoon he will be presenting “The Lightning Rod.”

According to Rabbi Ben Gonsher, Director of Institutional Advancement for Southern NCSY, “The Bal Harbour community is truly a special place for our NCSYers to spend Shabbat. Our lay leadership works for months preparing for our arrival and the community really opens their homes and hearts to our teens. Now in our third year of partnership, our teens have really developed role models and mentors from within the community, and look forward to this close-knit weekend all year long.”

Praising Rabbi Weil for his community leadership, Rabbi Gonsher added, “Rabbi Weil is a brilliant visionary for Klal Yisrael. His presentations for teen leaders as well as for lay leaders are expected to be impactful and we are looking forward to welcoming him.”
