Shelley Israel of Milwaukee will be the recipient of the Enid and Harold Boxer Memorial Award and inducted into the Ben Zakkai Honor Society (BZHS) at its National Scholarship dinner on Sunday evening, January 26, at the Hudson Theatre at the Millennium Broadway Hotel in New York.
NCSY is the Orthodox Union’s international youth movement and the Ben Zakkai Honor Society (BZHS) is NCSY’s Alumni Hall of Fame. Proceeds from the scholarship dinner will be used to enable teens to attend NCSY life-changing national initiatives, including summer travel and study programs and the National Yarchei Kallah experience of five days of intense Torah study for public school teens during their winter break.
The Enid and Harold H. Boxer Memorial Award is named after Harold Boxer, a founder of NCSY, and his wife Enid.
Dinner Co-Chairman David Luchins said, “Shelley Israel has played an important role for over two decades in transforming the face of teenage Orthodoxy in her community. There are vibrant Jewish homes throughout North America and Israel that bear vital witness to Shelley Israel’s decades of selfless service in Milwaukee.”
