OU’S RABBI STEVEN WEIL TO PRESENT KEYNOTE ADDRESS, “WHY TEFILLAH DOESN’T MEAN PRAYER,” APRIL 25 FOR RAMBAM MESIVTA TEFILLAH WEEK
Rabbi Steven Weil, executive vice president of the Orthodox Union, will be the Keynote Speaker this Thursday, April 25 at Rambam Mesivta as part of the school’s special Tefillah (prayer) Week.
The high school is located at 15 Frost Lane in Lawrence.
Rabbi Weil will discuss the importance of inspired prayers with an intellectual understanding and an emotional investment during his presentation, “Why Tefillah Doesn’t Mean Prayer.”
According to Rabbi Zev Friedman, Rosh Mesivta of Rambam, “Tefillah Week is an integral part of the chinuch (educational process) that we impart to our students. It allows them and our staff to focus during school on heightening the importance of prayer; not just highlighting the laws of prayer, but how to build a relationship with Hashem, and how to have inspired prayers. We also want our students to understand the big picture—the significance—of davening b’tzibur, as part of the community.”
“Rabbi Weil is one of the most dynamic and engaging speakers today,” Rabbi Friedman noted. “He has a tremendous connection with teenagers as he is truly able to speak with them on their level.” After Rabbi Weil’s presentation, students will break into discussion groups and will have the opportunity to engage Rabbi Weil with their own questions.
