05 Oct 2006

Providing Advice to Families At Critical Times: OU PRESENTS WHEN SERIOUS ILLNESS STRIKES, A PANEL DISCUSSION IN HILLCREST, SATURDAY NIGHT, NOVEMBER 4

Young Israel of Hillcrest
169-07 Jewel Avenue
Saturday, November 4, 2006
8:00 – 10:00 p.m.

In recognition that when serious illness strikes in an Orthodox family a whole range of difficult decisions — medical, legal and financial — have to be made in accordance with Jewish law, the Orthodox Union, the Rabbinical Council of America and the Metropolitan Jewish Health System will present a communal symposium, When Serious Illness Strikes and Decisions Have to Be Made: Who Decides – the Patient, the Physician, the Rabbi, the Family? A Practical Guide for Orthodox Families. This program is presented as a community service and admission is complimentary.

The conference will be held Saturday evening, November 4, from 8:00-10:00 p.m. at Young Israel of Hillcrest, 169-07 Jewel Avenue in Queens.

“Illness can strike at any age and we have to understand how to address the myriad of individual and family challenges that are presented,” declared Frank Buchweitz, OU National Director of Community Services.

The program will consist of a panel discussion featuring the following speakers and topics:
